Case Study
Challenge: Find a cost-effective alternative to a two-piece machined assembly.
Solution: GKN designed a dual material component – consisting of a soft magnetic material at one end and a non magnetic material (stainless steel) on the other. Both materials were introduced to the die cavity and pressed at the same time.
Results: This new design eliminated machining operations and one component without any decline in component performance.
